Enchanting Indian Wedding in Puglia with A Unique Mandap Design
For her Hindu wedding, Reema envisioned something truly unique — something distinctive, rarely seen before, and highly innovative. She had once attended a wedding that deeply inspired her and dreamed of celebrating her ceremony beneath a grand tree. She didn’t want a traditional Mandap, but rather a structure that could blend harmoniously with nature, rich in greenery, branches, and hanging elements.
During our venue search with the couple, we visited several villas where similar trees were present and could potentially be adapted into a Mandap. However, when the final choice fell on a resort whose ceremony area lacked such a natural setting, the challenge became significantly greater. We needed to recreate the bride’s vision without the presence of a large tree.
Our brainstorming process explored many ideas — from renting full-sized trees to enhancing smaller existing trees in the ceremony area to make them appear fuller and more majestic. Unfortunately, none of these options fully resonated with Reema. We had countless calls focused solely on the ceremony décor, exploring local elements such as olive trees, pomegranate trees, and prickly pear, but something always felt missing.
Eventually, we turned to artificial intelligence. Today this may seem commonplace, but in early 2024 it was still relatively new and used by very few in the wedding industry — and it became an invaluable tool for us. Through AI, we created several Mandap concept sketches and, working closely with the bride, refined the designs she loved most until we reached the final vision.
The chosen Mandap was exactly what Reema had imagined. A fully wooden structure, including a slightly aged raw wooden platform, completely enveloped in greenery — from large leaves to delicate branches — with white flowers scattered throughout and small blooms hanging gracefully from the corners. Being very intentional about her choices, the bride selected not only the color palette but also the flower varieties, opting for fragrant blooms. The addition of tuberose was the perfect finishing touch.
The true standout element, however, was the roof: a custom-made rope installation crafted by a local artisan. It was so beautiful and unique that it left everyone involved incredibly proud of the teamwork behind it. Every detail was thoughtfully considered — even the couple’s chairs were bamboo, perfectly aligned with the natural aesthetic.
Exquisite Indian Wedding Ceremony in Puglia: A Symphony of Unique Details and Emotions
For the aisle, instead of classic baby’s breath or roses, we chose Lunaria, creating ethereal, cloud-like arrangements that guided the bride’s walk. The same flower was also used for the couple’s garlands, ensuring they felt just as special and unconventional.
Another key design challenge was the ceremony layout. The garden area was quite narrow, yet we needed to accommodate both an impactful mandap and 100 guests. We opted for a curved aisle leading from the bride’s entrance to the Mandap, with seating arranged along the curves. The result was visually stunning — one of the most beautiful ceremonies we had ever designed.
Wooden chairs were chosen to stay consistent with the theme, along with paper parasols to protect guests from the sun and ceremony programs placed on each seat. As the groom is Persian, we also honored his heritage by setting up a traditional ceremonial table.
Reema got ready with our talented makeup artist and looked absolutely radiant. Against the backdrop of white and green, she chose a striking red Sabyasachi lehenga.
Coming from Bengal, she incorporated traditional elements into her look, while Naveed wore an elegant white outfit. The bridesmaids were dressed in soft pastel shades and each was gifted a beautiful bouquet.
We began the photo session with a first look on one of the masseria’s panoramic terraces. The couple had a sweet and playful idea: printing giant cutouts of their beloved dog, who couldn’t attend the wedding. When Reema arrived hidden behind the cutout, the moment was both touching and hilarious.
For his baraat, Naveed chose a red Vespa — a classic Italian icon, perfect for the location and a tribute to his love for Italy. Decorated with garlands and accompanied by a DJ riding in a tuk-tuk, the baraat was joyful, energetic, and unforgettable.
The ceremony itself was deeply emotional and heartfelt, honoring both Hindu Bengali traditions and Persian heritage, culminating in the reading of the Quran. Everyone was visibly moved. The weather was on our side, gifting us sunshine all day long.
Magical Evening Reception with Lush Décor and Vibrant Entertainment
The reception took place in the resort’s main courtyard, a uniquely shaped space with a long central tunnel. Once again, we collaborated with our trusted engineer to carefully design the layout, determining the length and positioning of imperial tables to comfortably seat all guests. The central area was reserved for the dance floor, while tables of varying lengths surrounded it.
The tunnel became the focal point of the reception, transformed into a lush photo corner entirely covered in greenery and cascading flowers, with a beautifully decorated entrance. It quickly became the most photographed spot of the evening. String lights and countless candles enhanced the magical atmosphere.
Table décor featured arrangements of different heights, combining flowers with grapes and pomegranates. The bride envisioned a mix of fruits and florals and had very clear ideas about color combinations and flower varieties. The dominant hue was deep burgundy, perfectly complementing the antique-style vases and candelabras.
Menus were custom-designed in the shape of the traditional Puglian pumo, a symbolic good-luck object resembling a pomegranate. Real pumi were used as place cards and gifts for guests.
The energy of the night was driven by an exceptional DJ and MC duo, who kept guests dancing nonstop. The couple also worked with our choreographer to prepare stunning performances that wowed everyone. Reema wore several breathtaking outfits throughout the celebrations — from Sabyasachi for the wedding to Anita Dongre for the reception and beyond.
The food was outstanding. We had been eagerly anticipating this wedding knowing how incredible Puglian cuisine is — and it did not disappoint. From live panzerotti stations and a cheesemaker’s corner during aperitivo, to an exquisite dinner and a gelato station paired with a variety of desserts, it was a true feast for the senses.
Overall, this Indian wedding in Puglia was a huge success. Guests couldn’t stop thanking us, and we couldn’t be happier with the result — a celebration that perfectly blended cultures, creativity, and heartfelt emotion.
