Vibrant Indian Pre-Wedding Celebration in Umbria: Italian Castle Welcome Party
Dhara and Keval are a young, sophisticated, and elegant couple from London with a deep love for Italy—its food, culture, and traditions. This passion is also shared by both their families, who, while actively involved in the wedding planning, maintained a respectful and discreet presence throughout the process. The couple was looking for an authentic Italian location that would allow their guests to fully experience the essence of Italy. At the same time, they wanted a breathtaking view to impress their guests and enjoy the stunning landscapes that an Italian venue could offer. Thanks to our meticulous scouting, we were able to present them with a selection of beautiful venues. A stunning castle in Umbria stood out among the proposals and was ultimately chosen to frame their three-day wedding celebration.
Living a fast-paced life in London, Dhara and Keval wanted to slow down and truly savor their wedding festivities. They didn’t want a tight schedule packed with back-to-back events. Instead, they preferred a relaxed pace, ensuring they had time for themselves and to enjoy their 140 guests who had traveled to celebrate with them in Umbria. To achieve this, they planned only one main event per day, allowing for moments of leisure. The castle’s magnificent pool provided the perfect setting for these relaxing breaks—filled with games, sunbathing, cold beers, and delicious gelato.
An Exquisite Blend of Indian Traditions and Italian Elegance in a Pre-Wedding Celebration in Italy
The celebrations began with a welcome party set up beneath the castle walls. The bride wanted to incorporate fuchsia into the décor. We designed a vibrant setup with pink tassels, fuchsia tablecloths, colorful cushions, and Indian umbrellas hanging alongside fairy lights to create the perfect ambiance. Dhara had her beautiful Mehndi applied a few days before the event by our talented henna artist, as the intricate design required several hours of work. This way, during the party, she was free to mingle with guests, sipping spritz and chatting with everyone.
Speaking of spritz, this cocktail was the highlight of the evening! We set up a dedicated Spritz Station featuring wooden wine barrels, an abundance of fresh oranges and lemons, and potted herbs, creating a visually striking and immersive experience that was a huge hit among the guests. Naturally, the dinner had to be a pizza party, accompanied by classic Italian appetizers and, of course, delicious gelato.
One of the most special moments of this Indian pre-wedding event in Italy was when the castle owner’s mother, dressed in a medieval gown, welcomed the newlyweds with a heartfelt speech and symbolically handed them the castle’s keys. In return, as is customary in the region, the couple gifted an olive tree. This tree would be planted in the castle’s garden, bearing their names as a lasting memory of their wedding.
The party continued late into the night, with guests dancing to an incredible Indian DJ. This is one of the advantages of spreading out wedding events—there’s no rush to wake up early the next morning for another function. Not all Italian venues allow late-night celebrations due to municipal restrictions. So when couples request parties that extend past midnight, we always prioritize venues where this is possible. In Dhara and Keval’s case, the ability to party into the early hours was a key factor in their venue selection.
The next morning, we held an informal Haldi ceremony on one of the castle’s terraces, followed by another relaxing day by the pool.
