Radiant Indian-Persian Wedding in Puglia: Iconic Venues and Cultural Fusion
Reema and Naveed are a radiant, determined couple with a very clear vision of what they wanted for their wedding in Italy. Deeply in love with Italy in general, and Puglia in particular, they dreamed of iconic trulli, whitewashed masserie, and a perfect balance between the crystal‑blue sea and the stunning countryside dotted with centuries‑old olive trees. Food was equally important: they did not want to give up authentic Puglian cuisine, from the bride’s beloved pucce to classic panzerotti and fresh burratine.
Their wedding was a true ode to the most authentic Puglia, beautifully embracing a multicultural celebration. Reema is Indian from Bangalore, while Naveed is Persian. Although the celebrations were predominantly Indian, we thoughtfully incorporated Persian traditions throughout the events, creating a meaningful fusion of cultures.
From the very first inquiry, it was clear that the couple was looking for top‑level venues. They were not willing to compromise on quality and needed a property capable of hosting most of their 100+ guests.
Like many of our Indian couples, they envisioned a “wedding vacation,” where loved ones could spend quality time together not only during the events but also in between. During our venue scouting, we proposed several options, including traditional hotels and Puglian masserie, until the couple fell in love with a stunning borgo: an elegant property blending the charm of a classic masseria with the comfort and services of a luxury hotel. Located inland yet offering romantic sea views from its terraces, this venue provided multiple spaces that became the perfect backdrop for Reema and Naveed’s celebrations.
The couple chose a classic three‑day wedding with five events. The bride, who works in corporate event planning herself, had a very clear vision of the design and styling she wanted. She knew the costs, the possibilities, and the challenges—working with her was demanding, but the result was nothing short of spectacular. Our incredible floral designer fully embraced the vision, bringing every idea to life with creativity and precision.
Glamorous Gatherings: Luxurious Pre-Wedding Extravaganza
The first event was the Welcome Party: a traditional pizza party set up by the pool. We combined authentic local elements, such as tambourines personalized with the couple’s names and “Welcome to Puglia,” with contemporary details like rare orchid varieties adorning the tables. While tomatoes were part of the décor, they were chosen in unusual shapes, adding a unique and unexpected touch beyond the typical aromatic plants. To honor Naveed’s Persian roots, we created a stylish shisha corner. Between the playful setups, a neon “That’s Amore” photo corner, and imaginative décor, the atmosphere was magical. When the bride saw it, she screamed with joy—it was exactly how she had imagined it.
Unfortunately, the weather surprised us. Despite clear forecasts, a sudden storm arrived just before the event, pouring rain over the entire setup. Thanks to our trusted team of suppliers, who always put the success of the event first, we managed—under heavy rain—to move everything indoors and recreate the setup in record time, while guests enjoyed aperitifs in the resort lounge. In the end, everyone had a fantastic evening filled with games, music, delicious Puglian food, and high‑quality shisha. Even though it took place indoors, the spirit of the night remained unchanged—this is exactly the mindset needed when unexpected weather reshuffles the plans.
The second day was dedicated to traditional pre‑wedding ceremonies, starting with the Gaye Holud, a Bengali ritual similar to Haldi. Given the uncertain weather, we chose a covered sea‑view terrace, open at the front and overlooking the Adriatic sea. The setup was vibrant and joyful: a floral backdrop, large terracotta vases filled with bold blooms, an artificial grass carpet to recreate a garden feel, and countless yellow details celebrating happiness and positivity. Reema requested floral jewelry, and our floral designer’s specialist created stunning bracelets and earrings just for our bride. The atmosphere was pure Bengali joy. After the ceremony, an Indian lunch was served. For this wedding, we brought our trusted team of Indian chefs from the UK, who delighted guests with high‑quality Indian cuisine and beautiful presentations during all traditional events.
In the evening, it was time for the Sangeet. To create a different atmosphere and allow the resort team to begin preparations for the wedding day, we selected an external venue: a luxurious beach club. The location offered multiple covered areas—an essential backup plan, as light rain made another appearance that night. Having a strong Plan B is always crucial, especially with outdoor events.
The beach club had a completely different vibe from the masseria resort. It was the perfect party location, already decorated with string lights across the ceiling. To enhance the festive mood, we added large disco balls and arrangements of pampas and palm leaves overhead. Lounge sofas were placed around the dance floor, creating a relaxed yet energetic setting. The focal point was the bar, transformed into a “Hugo Bar,” as Hugo Spritz was the bride’s favorite cocktail. We designed custom stickers to decorate the bar, and of course, lemons were a key decorative element.
The dinner area featured a refined color palette: warm light brown tones from wood and pampas paired with soft blue chairs reflecting the color of the sea. Elegant floral accents with roses and pampas completed the look. At the entrance, a large mirror welcomed guests, with a custom rhyming welcome message handwritten by a calligrapher, created by the bride herself. Dinner featured delicious local cuisine, with a barbecue of meat and fish and plenty of vegetarian options.
The highlight of the evening was the Sangeet performances, prepared by parents, friends, and the couple themselves. They were emotional, fun, and full of energy—everything a true Sangeet should be. The party was such a success that guests couldn’t stop thanking us. Transportation was seamlessly managed by our Travel Manager, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the night. And that was exactly what Reema and Naveed—and we—had hoped for.
