Multicultural Couple ‘s Indian Wedding in Sorrento: A Celebration of Love and Tradition
Priya and Hirak are a young multicultural couple living in the UK. They first contacted us two years before their wedding. Initially, they wanted a traditional multicultural wedding, since Hirak is Hindu and Priya is Sikh. We began planning dual religious ceremonies with several pre-wedding events.
However, for various reasons, the plans changed, and they decided to opt for a white wedding. Despite this, the couple didn’t want to give up on traditions, so they chose to keep the pre-wedding Jago ceremony, which was combined with the bride’s Choora.
It was a very family-oriented wedding, as the couple has a large family. Most guests were uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives. Out of 100 guests, more than 20 were children, but it was a lot of fun and very relaxing to experience the atmosphere of a big family gathering, where no one was rushing, everyone was together, and the focus was on enjoying the presence of loved ones rather than showing off.
The villa chosen for the wedding was our favorite in Sorrento — a cliffside villa with breathtaking views of Capri and Mount Vesuvius. This villa is often chosen by our couples because it offers a unique setting and unparalleled vistas. When the couple first visited, they fell in love immediately and confirmed it on the spot. How could they resist such views?
Moreover, the villa offers several spaces perfect for various pre-wedding events. For the bride’s Choora, we used charming terraces with a view of Capri, while the Jago was set up on a large lawn area, where we also arranged the dinner. On the upper terrace, overlooking Capri, we organized the dancing and Jago celebration itself. Fantastic DJs and MCs from the UK kept everyone dancing nonstop. We decorated with lights, colorful tablecloths, and provided Jago pots and sticks. Of course, a gelato cart was arranged for the enjoyment of both children and adults. It was a loud, fun, and lively party — just as tradition demands.
Classical Italian Elegance: A Symbolic Ceremony with Stunning Sea Views and Floral Splendor
The next day, everything changed. Their ceremony took place in a different area, the main part of the villa shaped like the bow of a ship leading into the sea. The ceremony was conducted in English by a professional celebrant, making it very heartfelt and intimate. With a stunning arch of white English roses, the couple exchanged vows. The white of their attire contrasted beautifully with the green grass and blue sea.
The bride looked stunning in her long white gown, and the groom was elegant in his white suit. They were a delicate, kind, and beautiful couple. Love reigned that day in Sorrento. The ceremony included personalized touches, such as a custom newspaper announcing the couple’s wedding. It even featured a crossword puzzle with questions about the couple for guests to complete.
Our trusted florist created a breathtaking floral arch, and the bride’s bouquet was equally beautiful. After the ceremony, in classic Amalfi Coast style, a red Alfa Romeo convertible carried the couple away. A famous Indian photographer from the UK, known for editorial-style photography, captured numerous beautiful moments, with the villa’s scenery offering endless photo opportunities.
For the wedding reception, the color palette shifted from white to lilac and light purple. The floral arch was filled with flowers in these shades, providing a stunning backdrop for a monumental cake decorated with fresh flowers. The villa’s sunsets were incredible, and the couple naturally took the opportunity for memorable cake-cutting photos.
After a garden aperitif with a personalized drink list and various appetizers, the party moved to the villa’s glass veranda. Tables were adorned with large, elegant floral arrangements. Indian cuisine was served for both wedding day events. As specialists in Indian weddings, we know how much space a family-style Indian meal can occupy on the table. For this reason, we always prefer centerpieces that take up little table space and grow vertically. Priya followed our advice perfectly.
The lighting in the hall matched the color palette, enhancing the first dance and subsequent party. The evening ended with a champagne tower and spectacular fireworks illuminating the night sky.
An intimate wedding, where family spirit prevailed over showing off, set against the beauty of the Amalfi Coast and the sea of Sorrento — an Italian fairytale for Priya and Hirak.
