Exclusive Sikh Pre-Wedding Celebrations in Rome: A Luxurious Multi-Venue Experience
Riana and Raj are a young couple – Raj is English, while Riana is American. They decided to celebrate their Sikh wedding in the Eternal City, fascinated as they are by the history, culture, architecture, and unique atmosphere of Rome. After all, what place embodies romance and eternal love better than the Eternal City itself? They planned a three-day celebration with 200 guests traveling from all over the world and were looking for a location which was easy to reach for everyone.
At first, they considered venues outside the city but eventually chose Rome – and it turned out to be the perfect decision. Not only because of the airport’s excellent connections with countless flights from around the world, but also because it gave their guests the chance to enjoy a true Italian holiday, discover the dolce vita, and turn the wedding into their own vacation. That was exactly what the couple wanted: to give their guests time to explore and enjoy the beauty of Rome. With plenty of hotel options available, everyone felt free to choose accommodation that suited them best. Thanks to our detailed venue scouting, we selected not only three different venues for each wedding day, but also hotels for the guests and activities for their free time. Most guests stayed in two hotels: one for the bride’s side and one for the groom’s, both just a few steps apart.
The bride’s hotel also hosted the first two events. For their welcome party, the couple wanted a panoramic terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rome, right in the heart of the city—and the chosen hotel was perfect. We created a charming party in peach tones with stunning floral arrangements. They were so beautiful that the bride’s mother had to touch the flowers to make sure they were real. In the evening, we celebrated with Italian style: pizza, gelato, prosecco, and a fantastic Italian band performing live during dinner. The panoramic views were breathtaking, and the guests loved both the setting and the design. For the final touch we used a glowing neon sign reading “That’s Amore,” under which countless photos were taken.
The bride worked with a stylist for her looks. For this party she wore a magnificent dark blue embroidered sari with peach flowers—perfectly in theme with the décor.
The second wedding day in Rome began with the Mayian – important Sikh ceremony. We used part of the same terrace but inside the glass veranda, offering a new perspective. Our floral designer created an impressive floral backdrop. The ceremony was intimate yet intense, marking an important pre-wedding ritual.
Cultural Celebrations: Mehndi and Jago
For the second day’s main Sikh events, the couple chose a villa located just outside Rome, a setting completely different from both the hotel and the final wedding venue. This villa was the stage for Mehndi, Jago, and Sangeet. Since these were three distinct celebrations, it was essential to have versatile spaces to set up each event. The bride also wanted one event to feel like it was held in a museum, and this villa was the perfect match for her vision. The reconstruction of an ancient Roman villa, it offered wide panoramic spaces overlooking the green Roman hills.
From the very entrance, guests were transported into ancient Rome, with themed flooring and large prints from the couple’s engagement photoshoot in Rome, taken months earlier. They were welcomed with colorful drinks at the entrance and with gifts from the bride’s mother. Guests then moved to the main garden, centered around a large swimming pool adorned with floating floral installations. The garden was divided into thematic corners, with signs to guide guests. One area was dedicated to lawn games, another to photo spots—from a decorated swing to a classic Italian Vespa adorned with flowers, lemons, and fruits. There was also a mehndi corner where talented artists decorated guests’ hands. The highlight, however, was the bazaar: a true market filled with gifts from India, including handbags, shoes, bangles, bindis, and personalized tote bags to carry everything home.
For this event, Indian cuisine was essential. We partnered with an Indian caterer in Rome who prepared traditional Punjabi dishes.
It was exactly the kind of colorful garden party the bride envisioned, ending with a lively performance by her father in true Punjabi style. As evening fell and it was time for Jago, families gathered in the villa’s grand indoor hall.
Riana wanted this celebration to feel like a party in a museum, so we transformed the double hall into two areas. The first was a buffet area inspired by ancient Rome, with themed centerpieces, decorated vases, and imperial colors of emerald green, gold, and deep orange. While the second hall was dedicated to dancing, divided into different sections, with a stunning central lounge area featuring six towering six-meter-tall trees reaching the ceiling. It took up to ten people to bring each tree inside, and we decorated them with glass bowls with candles inside to create a magical atmosphere. Regal furniture rentals set the tone, while emerald velvet tablecloths completed the dining setup. The DJ performed from a raised stage, ready to keep the dance floor alive.
The couple worked with our trusted choreographer to create beautiful performances, and even relatives and friends put on dazzling shows for the Sangeet, before the night turned into a wild dance party.
These two pre-wedding days were truly spectacular, each unique and more beautiful than the last, building up the crescendo of locations, setups, and atmospheres the couple dreamed of. We had so much fun organizing it all and were especially overjoyed by the wonderful feedback we received.
